Education
I entered the University of Connecticut on a full academic scholarship several moons ago, originally majoring in computer science and engineering. While crushing the competition with my mean programming prowess I fell in love with the more genteel arts of mathematics. After completing my degree requirements in three years I spent the last year of my scholarship studying abroad in Paris where I became fluent in French, wine, baguettes, and understated chic! Upon my return I entered the ph.d program in mathematics...not quite as genteel at that level. While spending three years as an academic minion I dreamed of escaping to join the corporate rat race. As a freshly minted Master of Science, that's exactly what I did. I stormed the gates of Corporate America like a MASTER! A couple moons later, as I pop up from my desk like a prairie dog in a cubicle farm, I realize: I really enjoyed teaching others the genteel arts of mathematics.
Experience
I have ten years of tutoring experience. As an undergrad at UCONN I tutored math and computer programming (C++) for the School of Engineering and math for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. While in graduate school I tutored all levels of math at Manchester Community College and taught undergraduate courses at UCONN, mostly pre-calculus and calculus. After obtaining my masters degree I taught basic and intermediate algebra at Manchester Community College and was a member of the professional staff in the Academic Support Center at Eastern Connecticut State University.
